It was an afternoon to forget for both sets of supporters who turned up at the Madejski after watching a woeful 0:0 draw between two poor sides

MATCH REPORT | |||||||
| A forgettable afternoon at the Madejski Saturday extended Reading's winless streak. A goalless draw summed up a woeful performance by either side. The closest we came to a goal was when Reading's top goalscorer Dave Kitson scored only to be caught offside.
Steve Coppell made changes to the team who drew with Crewe midweek. James Harper was dropped after underperforming recently with Ricky Newman taking his place. Paul Brooker continued on the left wing and Lloyd Owusu and Dave Kitson kept their places upfront. Nicky Forster was again omitted from the 16 man squad. Reading had plenty of possession throughout the game but were unable to turn their dominance into goals. The first half was instantly forgettable with hardly a shot on goal yet alone on target from either team. The closest we came to a goal came through Leicester's Mark De Vries whose well struck shot went flying just passed Hahnemann's post. Steve Coppell's side offered nothing in the final third highlighting the clear problem Reading are currently experiencing. Half Time: Reading 0:0 Leicester City Second half saw The Royals give more of a go but just could not create any real opportunities. When Reading did carve out a chance Dave Kitson strayed offside with the Reading's supporters cheers short-lived when the flag was raised after the striker netted. Neither side attempted to play attractive football with centre back Ibrahima Sonko even managing to get the ball onto the East Stand roof with another one of his famous clearances. The first player to achieve such a feet since Reading moved into their new home in 1998. Les Ferdinand was introduced to try and spice things up along with Glen Little also making an appearance later on. Similar to Tuesday Little gave Reading a fresh outlet and should defiantly stat away at QPR next Saturday. Late on Kitson could have won it for The Royals after being put through but could only shoot straight at Walker. So yet again no win and no real performance from the Reading team. A big display is required from the Reading team at Loftus Road next Saturday for some of the pressure to be taken off Steve Coppell's shoulders.
