Goater joins Coventry City on loan

Reading striker Shaun Goater has moved to relegation strugglers Coventry City till the end of the season. The striker has been out of favour at Reading and had rejected a number of previous loan moves.

GOATER JOINS COVENTRY

Shaun Goater has moved on loan to fellow Championship side Coventry City. The Reading striker has moved till the end of the season in search of first team football. The ex Manchester City striker has been out of favour this season with the Reading unwilling to pay £50,000 to Manchester City once the striker makes his next first team appearance for The Royals. It has meant Goater has been restricted to just reserve team games.

Whether the move could become permanent is unclear but if the veteran striker manages to score a few goals for relegation battlers Coventry City then the chances of a permanent move away from the Madejski could increase.

Goater joined The Royals for £500,000 in the summer of 2003. Goater had become a Manchester City legend at his time at the club and scored twice in City's 3:1 win at home over arch rivals Manchester United in the last season at Maine Road.

In other news Reading look increasingly unlikely to make any new signings on transfer deadline day. Director Of Football, Nicky Hammond has said the club have made bids of two unnamed players but any deal for either player looks unlikely to be completed before today's deadline.
