We announce the 1871Royals.co.uk winner of the player of the year award and congratulate the winner of the 1871Royals Prediction League.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR 04/05
The 2004/05 season for Reading has now been and gone and so it is now time to announce the 1871Royals player of the season voted by you the readers.

The choices were as follows; goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, defenders Ivar Ingimarsson and Ibrahima Sonko, midfielders Glen Little and Steven Sidwell and top goalscorer Dave Kitson. Unsurprisingly striker Dave Kitson won the award with 28% of the votes ahead of Ivar Ingimarsson in second place with 22% and Steven Sidwell in third with 19%.

Kitson who also won the official player of the year award finished the season with 19 league goals and although missing a number of months of the season through injury the ex Cambridge United striker still managed to win the award showing how little players shone in a Reading shirt this campaign. Marcus Hahnemann can feel particularly unfortunate at not picking up an award this season after keeping 19 clean sheets.

In other news the fixture list for the 05/06 Championship season will be released on the 23d June. 1871Royals.co.uk will have all the reaction from the key dates of next season's fixture list when it is released.

Congratulations to our very own Mark Sugar for winning the 1871Royals Prediction League this season (And no it was not fixed!!) Mark came top by two points beating Stephen Barter to the top spot. Thanks to everyone that took part over the course of the season and the Prediction League will be up and running again next season.
