NEWS ROUND-UP

Reading have smashed their record transfer fee by securing the services of highly rated striker Leroy Lita from Bristol City. Steve Coppell has splashed the cash with a £1 million bid that secured the services of Lita. The former Chelsea youngster scored 29 goals in all competitions for City last season although it was not enough to secure them a Play-Of place last season. Manager Brian Tinnion had hoped to hold onto Lita although admitted that the £1 million offered by The Royals was too good to turn down. Lita will take the number eight shirt and will make his first appearance in a Reading shirt against Farnborough Town tomorrow. (Saturday)

Staines Town were the first victims as Reading secured a 6:3 victory on Wednesday with Dave Kitson scoring his first hat trick for the club. Then Thursday Reading recorded a 7:0 win over Didcot Town with Kevin Doyle and Steven Hunt scoring their first goals for the club.

The Royals next pre season friendly is Saturday away at Farnborough's Cherrywood Road ground. Kick off is 3pm. Also tickets for Reading's only pre season home friendly against Premiership outfit Tottenham Hotspur are on sale. For ticketing details regarding this game Click Here
