Saracens 38 - 24 Titans

Barry Jacobsz’ try and nine points from the boot of Mike Whitehead put the Titans within striking distance of victory over Saracens before the big guns exerted their power in the final third of a closely fought contest.

The Titans led 17-14 at half-time but paid the price for a below par period just after the break in which Saracens pounced to secure a 38-24 win.

“We made a very good account of ourselves and showed that we can live with Premiership sides,” said Head Coach Andre Bester.

“The two games against Connacht and Saracens have shown us where we are and have prepared us for the Grafton Challenge match against Ulster on Friday.

“I have taken a good look at all of the players but I still haven’t decided on my best fifteen. Even after the changes that we made in the second-half, the level of performance was high and the players that were involved in two games in two days didn’t disappoint me.

“They brought on their big guns but we had them up front and we out scrimmaged them. Our pack was outstanding and we repelled their maul. My one criticism is that we perhaps needed to be a bit more positive but I will address that and we will come back stronger.”

Saracens were penalised for infringing the rampaging Titans scrum with the award of two penalty tries.
