Match Preview - Falcons v Titans

It's round 9 of the Zurich Premiership and this Sunday, Rotherham Titans journey to the Northeast to face Newcastle Falcons. Rotherham who has still to get off the mark this season will find the Falcons a difficult proposition on their own patch.

Rob Andrews’ men have made Kingston Park in to something of a fortress. They have only lost one league game there, since Bristol beat them at the beginning of December 2002. Already this term they have beaten Gloucester and Sale at Kingston Park and are the only team to have beaten league leaders Bath.

However, Rotherham Titans are aware that every game in the Premiership will offer its own challenges. The Titans are desperate to get that 1st win under their belts and the longer that evades them, the greater the pressure on the players and the coaching staff. Earlier this week Titans Head Coach Mike Schmid, revealed just how important he sees the upcoming games when he said, "We just have to find a way to win again and we have to get something soon or we are going to be completely out of it by Christmas. If we have any expectations of staying up we have to get at least two wins from our next three league games."

That’s a tall order considering Rotherham has not even collected a single bonus point as yet. But there have been signs of improvement in just about each of their games this season. Also on a positive note Steph Nel, the new South African consultant has had more time with the boys this week and more improvement is expected. The squad is getting to know each other more and more and the feeling in camp is that the 1st win is just around the corner.

Let’s hope that corner starts to appear on Sunday.
