Big Des makes his debut

Des Tuiavii will make his debut for Rotherham Titans against Sale Sharks at Edgeley Park tomorrow. Tuiavii can play No 8, but has been selected as blindside flanker for his debut. Although approaching 34, he is expected to make a significant impact in the back row.

Des Tuiavii was one of only three players to play every Waratah match in 2002 in his first year for NSW. Another stellar season at club level saw him come close to winning back-to-back Sydney club rugby best and fairest awards. Originally from New Zealand, Tuiavii played for the NZ Sevens and NZ Universities before moving to Australia and taking up a contract with the ACT Brumbies. He excelled during a season with Southland in NPC two years ago.
