Bester said, “At the end of the day Morne has been here on an amateur deal and has committed himself over here for a year. But he hasn’t had much game time and Nuneaton is willing to give him that game time.

“I felt it was better at this stage to put him out on loan. He’s not away from us; whenever we want to use him we can use him. We can recall him back at 24 hours notice.”

Bester indicated that other players short on game time could follow the same path. Regarding Scottish second rower Nathan Pike, Bester added, “Nathan Pike has been offered to other clubs. My view of Nathan is he’s got a great attitude, but at this stage we’re not getting the best out of Nathan. If we are not getting the best out of Nathan, Nathan won’t get the best out of us.

“So it always has to be a win win situation between both player and club. It’s not the type of decision I like making, but these decisions have to be made. My loyalty is towards the club and performances and if I don’t get that, then I’ll make the tough decisions until we get the right mix.”

Looking ahead to the Cup game against Halifax at the weekend Bester commented, “There’s not one match I go into in my life where I don’t want a performance! Yes the league is the most important thing to us. Where we are in twelve months time is vitally important to me. The finances are also important to me and we want to go as far as possible. Obviously the Cup is a money spinner for the club and that’s important also.

“The profile of the club is important and this has risen tremendously in the last six months. To play at Twickenham in the final would add further to it.”
