Early Brewer catches the worm

Cleveland Taylor scored after just 54 seconds for the only goal of the game to give Burton a victory in a game where City could have easily got something. City hit the post three times either side of half time and there will be few inside the ground that would feel that City weren't worth at least a goal. It leaves City in the exact same position they were in before.

The first time Sutton saw his side after being appointed manager, he watched Notts County score after just 14 seconds at Sincil Bank, meaning that when Cleveland Taylor struck after just 54 seconds, it meant yet another lack of concentration set the tone for the game.

Unsurprisingly Burton were on the front foot from the beginning as Baker fouled Kabba. Parkes swing in the ball and Cleveland Taylor volleyed home. Taylor has a habit of scoring good goals against City, once scoring for Scunny from near the half way line at Sincil Bank.

City quickly tried to get back into the game with the debuting Keltie crossing the ball deep into the box. Green and Maghoma had to both receive treatment after the later viciously brought down the former Villa man down. The free kick was played in with Krysiak having to adjust quickly to avoid an own goal after a deflection.

The Burton keeper was kept busy as Baker headed a corner straight at him. Burton finally started to venture forward again in the 27th minute, a full 26 minutes after the goal and Watts was booked for a foul on Kabba. Kerr quickly joined him in the book.

Harrad hit the post from a break out of nowhere before Herd was alledged to have been fouled by McGrath, although it did appear Herd went down without the defender actually touching him. Anderson hit the free kick straight onto the post. That was the final action of the first half.

Swaibu replaced Baker at the start of the second half but the defender wasn't going to have a good game as Sutton would launch constant tirades at him through the first half.

Penn was booked for a foul on Herd before Hughton was flagged offside. Kerr had a low shot go comfortably into the arms of Krysiak and Hughton then wasted a good chance to equalise as he hit a shot well wide of the target.

A looping header from Gilmour was well saved by Krysiak before John-Lewis replaced Facey. Green was booked for a foul on Taylor before Greg Pearson replaced Kabba for the hosts. Maghoma shot well wide when he should have realistically scored.

Anderson hit another free kick wide before Hughton hit the post following a break, although his mini-rant afterwards bought him a yellow card.

Krysiak denied City a 93rd minute equaliser with a point blank save and it rounded off a game where City will be disappointed to have lost due to Rob Burch not making a save all game long.
