Striker : Paul Connor

By Nathan Jackson

Paul Connor was one of the last signings that Peter Jackson made before leaving and injury has thwarted him making an impact since joining. Joining on a free transfer from Cheltenham Town, hopes were high that Connor would do well at Sincil Bank.

  Signed From : Free Transfer

Debut : Lincoln City 1 Barnet 0 - August 8th 2009

Paul Connor had been a striker well known throughout League Two and had a reputation for scoring goals, averaging just over a goal every three league games whilst at Rochdale before going to Swansea and having a record of a goal under every four league games, not a bad record by anyone's standards. However, his goal-scoring soon slowed down after he left Swansea City and he scored just fourteen League goals in 113 League appearances between January 2006 and August 2006.

He found himself released from Cheltenham Town and following a trial that was deemed successful (although he only scored one goal during that trial), he joined the Imps on a year long contract. City's top four scorers from the season before had all left and Paul Connor walked straight into the side and made his debut against Barnet.

Just over a month into his City career he gained an injury that would keep him out of action for four months and despite being "close to a comeback" from October onwards, he didn't play a League game until coming on as a last substitute in an away game at Burton.

However, most City fans realised it wasn't worth the wait as Connor was often anonymous during games and only managed 8 shots in his 19 first team games for the club. He left in May 2010 after failing to score for the Imps.

A lot to prove .... whether he can regain match sharpness in the coming weeks let alone grab some much needed goals from our goal-shy strikeforce, remains to be seen!
