Sutton apologises to fans

Chris Sutton has gone out of his way to apologise to the 101 City fans who travelled to Vale Park last night for the 4-0 defeat. 4-0 doesn't tell the true story of a game where the hosts could quite literally have got into double figures, and that isn't an exaggeration.

City's 4-0 defeat at Port Vale is easily the worst defeat of the season and the biggest since the 5-1 defeat at Grimsby last March, but City were well on the way to defeat before three minutes had even been played. A mix up between Pearce and Burch saw an attempted back-pass trickle into the net, then within two minutes it was 2-0.

Port Vale missed a penalty before Davies made it 3-0 in the fifteenth minute. John McCombe made it 4-0 in the second half, but Port Vale missed enough chances to have won ten games, let alone just the one.

"To say it was one of our worst performances is probably an understatement," he said told the Lincolnshire Echo. "We could have been four or five down after the opening 10 minutes and you just cannot afford to start any match like that. There are no positives to take from that game at all and I apologise to the supporters who travelled because we appreciated their support."

101 City fans made the trip and were in good voice throughout the entire match, a commendable effort given that poor (and that's putting it nicely) performance.

City will be looking for an immediate reaction against Crewe on Saturday.

How has he gone out of his way to apologise?
Hasn;t he just answered a question in the Echo?

Nothing against what he has done or said, but was expecting something else in the story under that headline that's all.

He apologised to the fans on the radio and Imps Player, if my memory serves correct.

That is right and to be fair to him I appreciate the sentiment because I would have been one of them if it hadn't been my wife's birthday.
