Stockport relegated

Stockport County were relegated to League Two after a 3-1 home defeat to Yeovil Town left them 17 points from safety with only 15 to play for. They have become the first team to confirm either entry or exit to/from League Two and they will almost certainly be replaced in League One by the team they beat in the 2007/8 Playoff Final.

Stockport have had a miserable season and have been told that if they are still in administration by the season's end then they will more than likely be expelled from the Football League. Many sources says that they would be relegated five divisions instead of just the one, which would put them in the second tier of the Unibond League, the same level as Lincoln United.

Yeovil's 3-1 win at Edgeley Park confirmed that the Hatters were relegated.

Wycombe can be relegated by this time next week if they lose both of their next two games and Southend are still four from safety. Tranmere are the final team in the relegation zone with Leyton Orient, Gillingham, Exeter and Hartlepool within four points.

However, Hartlepool might not be as safe as they would hope as they face a sanction after fielding an illegible player against Brighton.
