Somma doesn't close door on potential Bank return

In an interview with the BBC, Davide Somma has spoken about how his time at Sincil Bank has gotten his confidence up, and how he wouldn't rule out a return to Sincil Bank in the future, that despite signing a new contract at Leeds United.
The striker has been in brilliant form since signing for the Imps in February, scoring 9 goals in 13 games and being the main reason the Imps have survived relegation. It had been hoped City could talk him into coming to Sincil Bank permanently, but he then agreed to sign a new deal at Leeds.
However, in an interview where he reflects on his season and his future at Leeds, Davide didn't rule out the possibility of a move back and thanked Sutton for the hard work in teaching him to be a better striker.
"I just wanted to come to Lincoln and do well." he told the BBC. "It's difficult when you go to a new team and you don't know how they play, but I was surprised at my performance. The gaffer [Chris Sutton] was good, I was working with him everyday and he taught me well, how to make my runs and I had good guys all around me."
Somma is expected to challenge for the first team at Leeds next season, but when asked if he would like a return to Sincil Bank, he said ""You never know, it's a huge window to me, but it all depends how well I do in pre-season at Leeds."
Somma will make his final City appearance against Macclesfield on Saturday.

We clearly need a big lottery winner and Imps fan in Lincoln to get him in over the summer. I know people are talking about his chances if Leeds get promoted (which I expect them to as they only have to win at home to Bristol Rovers), but if Beckford goes, as looks likely, they would be absolutely mad not to give Somma a proper chance considering how many goals he has got in a team whose top scorer in the squad before he arrived had 2!!! Great player, good bloke, and wish him every success in his future career - really hope it's with us, but if no lottery winners are forthcoming, it's not going to happen.

Well with the Chairmanship up for grabs, I've heard a rumour that Peter Swann is interested. For all those that don't know who he is, he's the guy in charge at Gainsborough and is married to the woman who runs Wilkinsons.

What would you do if you were Somma? He's now back in the picture at Leeds...Beckford will go (fact!!) so Leeds will bring in another striker at least and Somma will be in 1st team contention. I hope for him he makes the grade in the Championship...he's been exceptional for us on the pitch and in his attitude to our club. Being selfish our best hope is that he doesn't quite cut the mustard at Leeds and becomes a bench/fringe player and we grab him on a season long loan in the autumn. However, there are sure to be other Davide Somma type players on the fringes at Premier/Championship clubs..lets hope we can unearth another if we don't get Davide...remember someone complining on here when we signed him that he didn't score many goals!!! lol!! Good luck Davide..you've been a star...hope somehow you do return mate.

The only hope we have is that Leeds do get promoted, if they stay in League One he will start the season for them, no doubt...if they get promoted they will be looking for a big name signing to replace Beckford.....Ameobi ir similar I would imagine.
Lets hope by September he is sick of playing reserves again and gives Sutton a call!!!

I think the reality was though that his scoring record was awful. However, under the wing of Sutton he has flourished.
I would love Somma to come back but the chances are remote, even if he does move from Leeds, there will be bigger clubs than us in for his signature.
It's not just money, he strikes me as aguy who doesn't want to be scrapping around at the 3rd/4th worst team in the FL. Hopefully that will change, but currently that would appear not given the current team is almost Sutton's. What we need in the summer is to spend, Decent keeper, Commanding experienced centre - half, decent left - back, 2 tricky wide men, and 3 forwards, one with pace, one target man and a poacher.

Be interesting to see what happens. That red card he got for you lot might be the best thing for Lincoln. Because if Somma does well pre season here, HE WONT be able to play in the first three games. So that will be in Grayson's mind come the end of the pre season friendlies and also puts another player in the driving seat.

I think you're probably right, but we can dream... Somma has said that he has learnt alot from Sutton so maybe if he did drop down to us again he could learn more (while helping us out along the way)

Statistics can say many things.
One sending of in 13, means he would get sent off 3 times, missing 3 games the first time, 4 the second and five the third.

So he would play between 34 and 39 times during the season (depending on when he got his final sending off), bringing his total down to between 24 and 27 a season.
I'd still sign him up though.
