Butcher signs for Macclesfield

In one of the least surprising moves of the season, Richard Butcher has signed for Macclesfield Town. The three-time Imp left the Imps a few weeks ago and has joined up with Macclesfield for a second time and Gary Simpson for an amazing 5th time.

Butcher and Simpson have been involved together at Lincoln twice, Peterborough and now Macclesfield twice, but it will surprise few with the news that Butcher will be playing for the Silkmen again next season.

He rejoined City for a third time last summer but had a largely disappointing season, especially following on from 20 goals in two years for Notts County. He joined Macclesfield on loan towards the end of the season before returning to City. He had agreed to go back to Macclesfield on loan but the move fell through at the last minute.
