The Players of 2009/10 : Scott Kerr

It's been a strange year for Scott. He started out as one of the few players you could guarantee would be in the first team, then Sutton came along and the captain barely got a look in, however, an impressive display at Northwich in the cup convinced Sutton was Kerr was his man in midfield.

Kerr is one of those players who you can just tell he will be at a club for a LONG time. With 228 appearances in five seasons and still only 28, he could still potentially become the club's all time record appearance holder if he continues to earn new deals.

Scott had a relatively quiet year to be honest, he had a brilliant game in the FA Stan GifCup at Northwich, setting up all three goals and I think that was what convinced Sutton to reinstall him permanently to the side. Infact, you'd be hard pushed to remember a Scott Kerr mistake this year.

There's not much to say about Kerr's season really, but I do think it goes to show a lot about his mental attitude that he took being dropped on the chin and just worked hard. Fair play to the bloke. He's one of those players who will never be the best on the pitch, but you know exactly what you're going to get.

I like Scott Kerr, he has all the effort and endeavor. But he is not someone you would have starting week in week out if your chasing promotion.

I agree, like I said, weak link.

As I said in my reaction, Scott is not even close to being the best player on the pitch, nor will he ever be for us. However, I can think of far worse players on the pitch for us during this past year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling him a good player.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

I would have wholeheartedly agreed with the 'weak link' accusation before Xmas, but I thought he was generally excellent after that. Ok, he doesn't score, he doesn't provide loads of skill and invention, but he is a solid player as Nathan says and went right up in my estimation for fighting his way back into the team and not once moaning about getting dropped. It is vital to get the right partner for him - the Freck/Kerr balance of early 06/07 was the best spell he's had for us.
