The Players of 2009/10 : Jamie Clarke

There were numerous players who were the personification of a waste of time during the 2009/10 season, but one of the worst culprits was Jamie Clarke. The striker failed to score from open play in the League and only managed to otherwise score against teams from the Blue Square North.

It's shocking to think now that Jamie Clarke was our joint third highest goalscorer and the fourth highest in terms of taking shots. I say shocking because he was just ultimately terrible.

Much like Ryan Semple and Lenny John-Lewis before him, his first touch was atrocious and he was about as graceful as a rhino. How he ever convinced Blackburn to take him on as a youngster is beyond me.

The thing was that his only goals from open play all came against non-League opposition, even one of those he completely scuffed into the ground and the goalkeeper should have done better.

Out of all the crap that Peter Jackson signed during his time at Sincil Bank, I'd go as far as putting Clarke up there with the likes of Lee Ridley, Ben Smith and Kevin Gall as the worst.

I remember many on here telling me he would come good, especially Daveimp (He must have a good eye for a player). From the moment I saw him he was awful, up there with the worst ever players at our club.

I think at the time of signing him I said something along the lines of "If Accrington fans think he's@#$%&then he must be dire"

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

Worringly, wasn't Clarke first brought to the attention of our management team because of a performance he put in against us?

This shows that you don't have to be good to look good against us and even poor players have good games occassionally (when playing in a Lincoln shirt this is usually just prior to contract signing and never again).

Isn't this the same endorsement we have for our latest left-sided attacking signing? Although, to be fair Sutton did say they continued to have Carayol watched for the rest of the season

Nowhere near as bad as Kevin Gall or even the Lenell John-Lewis of the last 2 seasons, but I can't say I was sorry to see him go. He did have his moments, and without his good finishes, it is questionable whether we would have earned the vital funds we got from our cup run so he should at least be given some credit for that. I also thought he was a reasonable right-winger, but we can do better and Sutton saw that very quickly.

i was one of the ones who thought he would come good, but only for a short while. I was kidding myself. He is on trial at Shamrock Rovers.

Credit for those 2 goals v Northwich (even though the first was scuffed) that saw us through to the 3rd Rd, which is more than many other strikers have done for us ..... that said, he won't be missed, much like Ryan Amoo wasn't!

Indeed showed brief glimpses but didnt follow it up.
Appeared to have a bit of attitude problem as well hence why CS got rid of him.

Here we go again!
Will we ever get the right man?
