Imps not alone in Connell race

If the rumours that Chris Sutton is after Alan Connell are true, it means that the Imps now will have competition from another League Two team for the striker. Cheltenham Town have declared their interest in the striker, although they are waiting on news of a loan striker before making a decision about the former Bournemouth man.

Much like new Imp Drewe Broughton, Connell has never exactly been prolific and after having spells at Tottenham, Ipswich, Bournemouth (twice), Torquay, Hereford and Brentford, he has only reached double figures for one of those clubs, including just five goals in 49 games during his recent spell at Bournemouth. Connell does have a good scoring record against the Imps though, hitting the net against City for Bournemouth, Torquay and Hereford.

The Imps have been linked to the striker in recent weeks but now it appears that if Cheltenham don't get the loanee striker that they are after, they will also be interested in bringing in Connell to partner their other former Bournemouth striker, Jeff Goulding.

"Alan Connell is a player who we have spoken about, but he is not on my radar at the moment," Cheltenham manager Mark Yates told the Cheltenham newspaper. ""We are talking about a very good player, but I am not sure if I can get him. He would be brilliant, but if we don't get him we will see where to go next."

With Tadgh Purcell and Davide Somma both rejecting the Imps in recent weeks, City are now moving into the third/fourth/fifth choices for their new strikers, a dangerous situation given it failed last year.

He is one of those strikers that looks handy without ever scoring much.

I'm sure Sutton will find someone better from a prem reserve side than him.
Lets not panic hey?

You'd hope so, I still stand by my opinion that only one striker that Sutton brought here was capable of a decent amount of goals.

I suppose it could be worse though, we could get a new striker that could be a member of a certain other message board. This striker could occasionally go on a certain website, let's just call it theimps.ka, he reads that website's stories and then posts the news on the other forum and takes all the credit for "finding" the news "first".

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

You have to go a long way back to find a manager who found more than one striker to score 20 goals.
