The news around League Two

It's a busy time in League Two and the last few days have seen a prolific striker rejecting a new contract, a club annouce a loss of 6 figures, a manager got verbally attacked by his former chairman and Wycombe brought in several new players.

The main talking point over the weekend was Simon Davey, new manager at Hereford, receive a scathing verbal attack from his former employers at Darlington. Davey was linked to the vacant manager's seat at Sincil Bank before the Imps elected for Chris Sutton and the Darlington chairman was less than pleased after what he perceives as disloyalty from Davey.

"I'm absolutely infuriated," he said. "I've said nothing since we discovered he would end up at Hereford on Tuesday but I've listened to what they've all had to say and they're just insulting my intelligence. The rumours about Davey going to Hereford surfaced just under a fortnight ago, on Monday June 14, and as the saying goes, there's no smoke without fire."

Singh's continued: "Davey was not big enough to speak to me direct and that's the most disappointing thing in all of this. It's difficult to sit on the fence in these situations when someone is blatantly taking you for a ride, but I'm absolutely livid."

There may also be trouble ahead at Gillingham after Simeon Jackson rejected the offer of a new contract. Although he is still under contract for another year, Gillingham were hoping to secure him for the long term, but with teams such as Norwich and Millwall being interested, he has turned down the chance.

Chairman Paul Scally was disappointed and admitted to Kent Online that he now has a dilemma.

"I haven’t had any credible bids for Simeon Jackson so far. I have been in discussion with his agent and I’ve told him we’ll be looking forward to seeing him on July 1. That’s as far as it’s gone," Scally proclaimed. "We did offer him a new deal last season but he turned it down. I don’t think he would sign a new deal at this moment in time."

"He has a year left on his contract and he’ll either see it out or he won’t. He was part of the team that got us down and he’ll be part of the team who gets us up unless someone comes in with an offer that is acceptable to the club."

The Gills are however keen on bringing in Cardiff defender Darren Dennehy, whom is all keen on joining in what many predict to be a successful season for the men from Priestfield. Nicky Southall has also rejoined Gillingham.

Infact, it's been a weekend where Chairman have come into the limelight in League Two and Macclesfield's Mike Range wasn't an exception. The club announced losses of £182,000 for the year ending June 30th 2009 on a turnover of £1.8m.

He told Macclesfield's official website "We're pretty pleased with this outcome. As one of the smaller clubs in the league it's always challenging to ensure that we run the business sustainably, whilst competing with other clubs with greater financial resources. Of course, it would be good to make Macclesfield Town a profitable busienss, but this outcome was broadly in line with our expectations for the year."

Much like Simon Davey, Bradford City were on the end of scathing remarks, this time from Michael Boulding. The striker went to the Bradford and Argus newspaper with a "My name is Michael Boulding, woe is me" story. Boulding was released from Valley Parade in March and has been offered several deals in League One and Two.

The striker made 64 appearances in just under two years at Valley Parade, 44 of those being starts, despite this he claims he was never given a fair chance.

"“I wasn’t given the time on the pitch. You’ve got to play yourself into form and play regular games. You can’t score goals sitting on the bench – and if you aren’t playing, what are you doing there?" he questioned on Friday. "“It was through no lack of effort on my part, I just think I got mismanaged. “You bring in someone and then don’t play to their strengths. So why have you got him? “You bring a goal-scorer to the club and then don’t play him or try to get the best out of him. “It’s frustrating for strikers when they do start games and get dragged off in the last 20 minutes having put in all the hard work. That’s when you get goals – it’s ridiculous."

Finally, Wycombe were quite active over the weekend, bringing in Strevens and Foster from Brentford, although John Mousinho has rejected a new contract at Adams Park.
