Busy month ahead in the transfer window?

With a lot of player contracts expiring at midnight on June 30th, it means that July promises to be an exciting month as the main transfers will take place. City have already announced several players have joined the club, but much like 2005/6, we could see a lot more players join once July commences.

2005/6 had an interesting pre-season. The Imps had announced a few signings before July, including Danny Bacon, Gary Birch and Luke Foster, but when July 1st came around, it was announced that 12 players had agreed to join the Imps. Those 12 included Dean Keates, Nat Brown, Paul Mayo and current captain, Scott Kerr.

It has been speculated already that the Imps are going to do a similar thing on July 1st. Contracts for the majority of players who's deals were expiring officially ended on June 30th, and a lot of agents don't like it to be announced that their players have joined a club until the existing deal already expires.

City have been linked in recent weeks with several players, mainly John O'Flynn, Alan Connell, Davide Somma and Leon Constantine. The one thing that's for sure is that the Imps do need another striker.

Chris Sutton has also admitted that Albert Jarrett, who joined the club on Tuesday, will not be the last player to join the club.

"We are not finished yet, but like I said much depends on finance," he told the Lincolnshire Echo. "Albert's arrival means we can push Gavin McCallum up front which is the position he prefers, but we still need another striker in to give us competition. If either player (McCallum or Drewe Broughton) picks up an injury we are going to be struggling so that is an area that needs strengthening."
