Imps win at Bishop Stortford but club loses 100% record

Lincoln City continued their good record in the pre-season by winning at Bishop Stortford, It was City's first clean sheet of the pre-season with goals from Hughton and Hutchinson securing the 2-0 victory. It should have been 3-0 but Drewe Broughton missed his penalty. However, the 100% record the club had enjoyed quickly disappeared as news filtered through that City lost 3-2 at Sleaford.

Interestingly there were no trialists in the side that travelled down to Woodside Park, they possibly travelled with the reserve and youth side that were defeated at Sleaford. However, one welcome piece of news was the return of Adam Watts from injury, he came through 60 minutes unscathed and will now be a likely starter against Rotherham in just over two weeks.

Josh O'Keefe set up the first goal as he continued a fine first pre-season with the Imps, teeing up Hughton for a curling effort from 25 yards. Joe Anyon made a fine save to deny Bishop Stortford an equaliser.

Andy Hutchinson made it 2-0 midway through the second half with a header from a corner before Drewe Broughton missed a penalty later on during the game.

It was believed that the club had maintained their 100% record in the pre-season but a young Imps side lost 3-2 at Sleaford Town, not a bad result though considering they were 2-0 down at one point.

Wasnt it the under 18's side that lost to Sleaford? Seems to be the case according to the official site. 100% still intact!

Ahh, but I said the club, not the first team. The first team are unbeaten but the club as a whole aren't.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky
