Imps and Gulls agree Carayol fee

After months of it appearing that the Imps and Torquay United would go to a tribunial over the transfer of Mustapha Carayol, the Lincolnshire Echo has revealed that the clubs have finally agreed a deal for the Gambian.

The deal, which has been described by Bob Dorrian (Lincoln Chairman) as one that is ideal, sees the Imps pay a five figure sum and part of any future transfer fee. It brings to an end the long saga that has been going on since the beginning of the summer.

Carayol was one of the first to sign up to Lincoln during the summer, a move than enfuriated Torquay's Paul Buckle, whom was even more annoyed when the Imps claimed that Torquay had very little help in developing the player. Several months later and the clubs still hadn't agreed on a fee and it appeared it was almost certainly going to go tribunial.

The tribunial was supposed to go through this week, but it has turned out the clubs have now agreed a fee outside of the tribunial, a deal that both clubs are exceeding happy with.

"The details of the deal will remain undisclosed, but I certainly believe it suits us for a player of his quality," Bob Dorrian told the Echo.

Now that the Imps know how much they are paying for Carayol, Chris Sutton is believed to delve back into the loan market again.

It's £35,000 according to Torquay's website.

No wonder the Imps wanted it undisclosed.

What is unclear is whether appearances are on top of the staged £35,000 fee, part of it or a bit of both. We also don't know the details of the sell-on clause. So the cost might be far in excess of the figure announced by Torquay. I seem to recall the CEO stating recently that the club didn't see the need to pay any fee at all.

I think if the appearances were on top of the staged payments then Torquay would have said so as they have been quick to reveal the deal. Personally, it might turn out to be the bargain of the century - or it may not, but that's football.

And some people are quick to bleat that we don't get players that demand a fee and then complain when we do!

After watching him for the first time on Saturday I think Torquay must have seen us coming. He looked totally disinterested and lazy.We could have got a decent player for that kind of money.

Torquay reckon they have made a killing, only played a few times for them last season and they reckon he has no end product.

Our only goalscorer so far this and already thrown on the scrapheap by some already!
I dont think it would matter how much we had paid some would moan regardless and surprise surprise they are.
If some are so unhappy with board and management decisions at the club we dont you protest like the fans did in the 80s?
I'd hate to be a player at this club as you written off so quickly by the fans who clearly know far more about running and managing the any manager and chairman we've ever had!
He started well enough and should of scored after that he double marked most of the game.
He's only cost 5k up front to a MAXIMUM of 35k, who knows we may sell him for a huge fee in January, but then people would moan we had sold him too cheaply!

Here we go again!
Will we ever get the right man?

That's speculation that we have only paid 5k up front.

I actually rate him, but Torquay didn't play him that much..

And come on David, you keep asking BD top spend!!

Oh and I don't think a demonstration is that far off... Do You!

He looked good against Leeds. One of very few. Just get him some shooting boots and he will be a very good signing I feel.

I do indeed want him to spend as he promised and has again in the paper today.
He has bought two players but needs to bring in and spend far more to get the fans believing in the club again.
Trust me next time I see his son he will get his ear bent!
I wouldnt believe anything the Torquay fans said, if he's that bad as they claim how on earth could waltz past most the cods side last season and nearly do the same at rovram opening day this? Touch of sour grapes.
6 goals from the wing is better than all bar one of our players last season

Here we go again!
Will we ever get the right man?

If he turns out performances like the second half at Rotherham, it'll be an absolute bargain.

I've seen enough of him in pre-season and so far this season to suggest that everything's there for him to make us a bit of money in the future.
