Imps get rare "from-behind" point against Crewe

In something that has become a rarity watching the Imps, Lincoln gained a point following conceding the opening goal. City had dominated the first half before Crewe score with their first chance on goal, however, a brilliant strike from Albert Jarrett equalised matters. Both sides had decent chances to win the game but neither managed to find that final strike.

The game started off with Ben Hutchinson fouling Artell, but he escaped without a booking and it wasn't long before the Imps starting attacking. Hughton had a shot blocked before Keltie placed a free kick was headed clear. Jarrett smashed a free kick into the Stacey West stand and it was looking like it was only a matter of time before City scored.......cue Crewe's first attack.

Crewe moved forward and Donaldson played in Westwood, he shot at Anyon with the goalkeeper failing to hold it, Shaun Miller pounced on the loose ball and rounded Anyon before slotting it in from six yards.

Another Jarrett free kick sailed wide but other than that, the goal had killed seemingly all attacking intent that the game had shown. Infact, it came almost out of the blue when the Imps levelled as Jarrett disposessed Westwood and ran in on goal, shooting in from the edge of the area. It was just reward for a City side who had shown the most attacking intent during the game.

It could have been 2-1 before half time as the Imps tried desperately to get it in the goal. Hutchinson hit the ball, Jarrett's effort from a yard was cleared off of the line and Hutchinson finally headed over, all of this from one attack. The teams went in level at the break.

Hutchinson's acrobatic effort within the first minute of the second half went just agonisingly wide. That was about as exciting as the second half started and it didn't like long for Gradi to try and change things for Crewe, bringing on Calvin Zola for Joel Grant. It seemingly had little effect for the Alex.

City launched an excellent counter-attack through Jarrett, he dispossessed Blanchett and had the freedom of the Crewe half. He ran into the box but shot straight at the goalkeeper, his parry went straight to Clapham but the experienced defender's shot was blocked on the line by a Crewe defender.

It took a long time for Crewe to threaten the City game again and it almost resulted in what would have been an undeserved goal as Zola headed goalwards, with Anyon parrying it just around the post when it looked certain it was going to be a goal. Crewe made another substitution as Murphy was replaced by Moore.

Facey hit a shot straight at the goalkeeper before the Imps finally made some changes, four minutes from time. Jarrett and Ben Hutchinson were replaced by Andy Hutchinson and Drewe Broughton, Jarrett received a standing ovation for his performance.

Crewe hit the bar towards the end but neither side could find the winning goal.

It was frustrating how The Football League Show decided to show Crewe's chance that hit the post, but neglected to show when we hit the bar, missed a one-on-one and had a chance cleared off of the line from Clapham.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

Agree Nathan, but like most games covered by the telly it seems the broadcaster has his scritp written before the game.
