Better, Stronger, Faster, Harder : Lincoln 0 Bury 5

Lincoln City were torn apart by a brilliant Bury side on Tuesday evening to bring Lincoln fans back down to earth. Bury were clinical in front of goal and whilst the Imps weren't actually that bad themselves, they were came up against the best side we'll face at Sincil Bank in the League this season.

Lincoln's biggest home defeat since losing 6-0 to Barnet in the early 1990's will live long in the memory for the wrong reasons for Imps fans. It had started with Bury showing their intent as they showed why they were so forceful on the road, going forward rampantly. It had started with a third minute free kick that went just wide before Efe Sodje headed wide for the Imps. Lowe almost headed wide with just eight minutes gone and the Imps weren't able to get out of their half.

After dominating the opening exchanges, Bury deservedly took the lead, albeit through very fortunate circumstances. Andy Howarth received the ball and jinked past Watts before unleashing a thunderous shot goalwards, it took a slight deflection and to put it nicely, Anyon did a Taibi as he had to watch the ball squeeze under his body, between his legs and out of the other side.

City produced their first attack and a Jarrett ball in was headed against the bar by Carayol. City started to press but Bury were still looking the more threatening and it didn't take long for it to become two. Ryan Lowe received the ball from Ajose before unleashing a shot that was palmed away by Anyon, only to fall straight into the feet of Ajose and he had no trouble slotting it into the empty net. Bury didn't have to wait long to extend their lead and they did it in brilliant fashion. Jones played it into Lowe on the right and the striker hit his first time effort across goal from the corner of the box and into the net to score one of the best goals seem at Sincil Bank in recent years.

A shell-shocked City didn't just collapse though and did try to make a game of it. Carayol forced Fon Williams into a brilliant save before Facey headed wide from a few yards out. The half ended 3-0 to the visitors.

Mozika was booked for dissent before O'Keefe had a shot deflected wide by Sodje before Carayol had a shot deflected wide by Skarz. Lee sliced over his own bar before Kerr's attempted volley was blocked. Then came the most controversial moments of the game, Schumacher and Carayol collided heavily and both had to receive treatment, after a few moments Bury denied they wanted to sub Schumacher, so their keeper kicked it out of play, however, Bury just expected the ball back in this situation, that despite it being their choice not to wait until the next time the ball was out of play to make the change. This sparked a lot of arguments on the pitch before City kept the ball.

It was Clapham who had taken the throw in but he was responsible for Bury's 4th as he played the ball straight to Ajose. The Manchester United loanee easily rounded Gowling, who was doing an impression of a Jenga tower in an earthquake, and smashed an unstoppable shot past Anyon. 

The game slowed but it came as no surprise when Bury made it five as Lowe scored his second to condemn CIty to concede five goals at home for the first time since May 2007.
