Motherwell beware, Sutton might be coming

Former Lincoln City manager has been linked with a shock return to football with Scottish side Motherwell. After his atrocious record as Lincoln manager, few City fans were sad to see him go, especially with all the stories that have emerged since from the dressing room.

Chris Sutton was appointed as Lincoln City manager in September last year and despite winning the first two games, went on to have a winning record of just 14 victories from 51 matches in charge, two of those victories coming against teams two divisions below the Imps in the FA Cup.

There were few sad faces when Sutton left Sincil Bank, especially in the dressing room as vast amounts of stories emerged in the weeks following about the negativity he bought to the club, ranging from forcing Shane Clarke (a first team regular at the time) to train with the youth team, offering loan players permanent deals but then ignoring them when the player tried to accept them and various other issues that emerged about the first time manager.

Sutton proved to be one of the most unpopular managers in recent years amongst fans and was saved by a few star players coming in on loan, namely Davide Somma. He described a team that had finished 13th in the previous season as an awful squad before dismantling it, turning that midtable team that half-heartedly flirted with promotion into one that would have almost certainly gotten relegated had it not been for the awful form of both Grimsby and Darlington.

He has today been linked with the vacant managerial post at Motherwell and has already had an interview according to the Lincolnshire Echo. Judging by the fact the Lincoln City board admitted that Sutton interviewed well well and they appointed him based on that and he references only, you'd think he would stand a good chance of getting the job.
