Wycombe do Imps a favour

Lincoln City's survival prospects were given a boost thanks to the only match played in League Two on Boxing Day. Wycombe Wanderers beat Hereford United in what could be a preview of the FA Cup 3rd round, but the win now means City are four points clear of Hereford with two games in hand.

Goals from Wycombe's Lincoln legend Gareth Ainsworth and Ben Strevens gave Wycombe the win, cancelling out an equaliser from Manset for the visitors. Hereford will get the chance of revenge though if they get past Lincoln in the FA Cup Second Round replay, the winners will travel to Wycombe Wanderers on January 11th, that is until the replay is postponed.

The win for Wycombe now means that City have maintained a comfortable gap over Hereford. The clubs are separated by four points, but City now have two games in hand and you'd be hard pushed to see a fixture involving Lincoln that's going to get played anytime soon.
