We'd forgotten how poor Lincoln were...now we remember

Five weeks after Lincoln City last played, you'd have been forgiven for forgetting just how poor the Imps are, but a hapless performance against Bradford quickly reminded us. Moses Swaibu's poor defending abilities saw City concede early yet again, the Imps did draw level before more poor defending saw City defeated.

During the unexpected break from football, Moses Swaibu had been accused of stealing a cooked chicken from Tescos, and it became evident after less than 70 seconds that he had no intention to steal the ball off of an attacker, allowing James Hanson to nip in behind him and prod the ball past a helpless Anyon from a Steve Williams free kick. City's poor start continued as a downward Syers header was cleared off of the line by the chest of Clapham.

Kerr volleyed just wide for the Imps before Carayol's cross went onto the roof of the net, one of the many crosses from him and Jarrett that were about as useful as trying to play a Blu-Ray on a Sega Megadrive. Evans suffered a head injury and the game was stopped for a few minutes before it eventually resumed. One of Jarrett's typical wildly overhit crosses was strangely parried by Lenny Pidgeley, the corner eventually fell to Kerr and he again shot, this time Pidgeley tipped it over.

The second corner was eventually playted out to the edge of the box and Evans was penalised for handballing an attempted cross in. Clapham took the free kick and it crashed into the wall.....all of a sudden the referee points to the spot and City have a penalty for an apparant handball. Grimes stepped up and slotted away his third goal in four games.

Facey headed wide before Anyon pulled off a point blank save from Syers. Bradford were coming further into the game after the Imps had mainly been on top for the previous ten or so minutes. Kerr again was proving to like shooting and his first effort was saved by Pidgeley.

More poor defending down at City's end of the pitch as Evans picked the ball up on the right, he ran inside and neither of Clapham or Watts challenged him before he unleashed a shot on goal and it sailed beyond the reach of Anyon to give Bradford the lead again. The half ended soon afterwards.

Bradford thought they had won a penalty at the start of the second half when Evans appeared to be fouled in the area, but he instead gave a free kick the other way for an alledged dive. Bradford dominated the early parts of the second but it was the Imps who almost found the game's forth goal as Grimes wasted an effort before Delroy Facey failed to score six yards out, seeing his controlled effort deflected over by Duff. Facey when got in the way of an on target Carayol shot that was going in.

The Imps had a goal ruled out when Grimes fouled the goalkeeper before the Imps made a double substitution, Howell and McCallum coming on for Kerr and Jarrett. Carayol was substituted after a vicious foul on O'Brien. O'Keefe timidly shot wide for the Imps.

Neither side could gain another goal and Lincoln City went down to a third home defeat in four attempts.
