Tilson knows the defence is not good enough

Steve Tilson has effectively stated in his post-match interview that he had very little faith in the defence that took to the field against Hereford. City lost 4-3 at home to Hereford and Tilson finally appears to be losing patience with the defence.

City have conceded eight goals in seven days, resulting in three defeats. It was a horrible Saturday to be a Lincoln fan, not only going out of the cup but also falling into the League Two relegation zone and despite having four games in hand on the teams above, the level of optimism around Sincil Bank is extremely low.

The Imps have condeded eleven goals in the last three home games and Tilson finally appears to be running out of patience with his defence.

"We had enough chances to win and if you score three goals at home you should win the match," He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "We've conceded four goals too many, but if you look at the back four we had to put out today we were probably going to have to score four or five to win."

City's defence consisted of Jamie Clapham, Gavin Hoyte, Moses Swaibu and Paul Green, the latter of which was making his first start since returning from injury. The Imps had to change early though as Gavin Hoyte got injured and was replaced by Scott Kerr, although Kerr played mainly in midfield for the rest of the game.

"I couldn't fault the lads for effort and commitment, they've given everything but we've conceded too many poor goals today. I'm disappointed because I thought we had a fantastic chance of going through, especially the way the game was panning out but you can't concede four goals at home and look to get through."

Despite the Imps starting to score some goals on a regular basis now, but the defence is coming under much scrutiny and Tilson also hinted at another loan signing coming before the game at home to Wycombe next Saturday.
