City hit rock bottom due to goalkeeper Joke Anyon

Joe Anyon continues to be the Lincoln City clown as he cost the Imps yet more points. The Imps were well in charge at Sincil Bank and had scored through McCallum, but Joke Anyon's inability to save simple shots was a game changer as Wycombe scored two very simple goals before half time to send City bottom of the table.

Wycombe kicked off the game but it was the Imps who were enjoying all the early possession and the first chance of the game came early when Ashley Grimes was played through but his weak effort as easily saved by Bull in the Wycombe net. O'Keefe hit the post for City before Howell's effort was deflected behind. The Imps continued to press and Grimes was played through again, only to see his shot sail over the bar. Despite the numerous missed chances the Imps deservedly took the lead when Grimes and McCallum linked up for the latter to volley home from the edge of the area.

City's lead didn't last long though as Wycombe won a free kick 25 yards out. Andy Sandell took a shot that Joe Anyon dived out of the way off and it settled into the net to give Wycombe an equaliser form their first attack. After dominating the early parts of the game, this turned out to be the game changer and City wouldn't much doing much more attacking during the rest of the game. It was almost 2-1 soon afterwards as McCoy hit the bar from 35 yards.

Hone headed over for City but it wasn't long before the hosts had a chance to make it 2-1 from the spot. It came from Betsy running into the box after he was waved advantage following a trip from Green. He ran towards Swaibu and the awkward defending fouled him, conceding the penalty. Betsy was taken off before Donnelly took the penalty, he hit it wide of the target but Anyon tipped it out for a corner anyway. It didn't take long for Wycombe to get their second though as two Lincoln defenders tackled each other and Sandell nodded the ball home. That was the final major action of the half.

The second half kicked off and was generally quiet and the first major chance came when the ball was headed down and was ignored by two defenders and it fell to Jarrett three yards out. His first time shot was easily saved by Bull in the Wycombe goal and topped off a performance from Jarrett that could be described as "poor at best".

Green had to go off after a collision with Donnelly that saw the Wycombe man booked. He was replaced by Clapham. Anyon made a rare career save when he palmed out Bloomfield's header before Ainsworth received a standing ovation from the City fans when he left the pitch to be replaced by Montrose.

Lewis was booked for a foul on Howell before Grimes was booked for descent. However, City couldn't gain an equaliser and slipped to the bottom of the League. It also means that when City go to Stockport next Saturday, they will have been on 19 points since November 20th.
