Simon Yeo signs for Macclesfield

Former Lincoln City striker Simon Yeo has surprisingly come out of retirement to sign for Macclesfield Town for a second time. Yeo has been out of the professional game since leaving the Silkmen in 2009, but he has surprisingly signed for the Silkmen on non-contract terms

Yeo joined the Imps in 2002 from Hyde United and went on to score over 50 goals over two spells in four seasons for the Imps. He left City for the second time in 2006 and went on to play for Peterborough, Chester and Macclesfield before leaving the professional game in 2009, although he did play in non-League for a while.

He has now made the surprising return to professional football having joined Macclesfield on non-contract terms.

Speaking to Macclesfield's official website, Macc manager Gary Simpson said "I think first up it's important that we say that Simon hasn't been signed to address our goalscoring problems. We know he's got an uncanny eye for goal and the ability to be in the right place at the right time, but he's not played for a while so his role is more in the background."
