Tilson delighted with victory

Steve Tilson was understandably delighted with the 4-3 win at Stockport on Saturday afternoon. The result maintains City's record of not losing an away game on a Saturday under Tilson, but he is still frustrated with the amount of goals the Imps are letting in.

"We're certainly scoring but we just can't stop leaking goals at the moment, but obviously I'm really pleased," Tilson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. City are certainly not struggling to find the net, hitting eight goals in the last three games, however, nine goals conceded in the same time has seen City go out of the FA Cup and drop to the bottom of the League. However, the 4-3 win at Stockport moves City back into the pack.

An Ashley Grimes (right) hatrick and Adam Watts' first for the club nearly 18 months after joining meant that the Imps secured all three points at Sincil Bank. However, whilst there were no worries about the attacking intent of the Imps, the back line again came under criticism for conceding three games.

Tilson continued "People can say it's Stockport and a six-pointer but at the end of the day it's just another game that we needed to win and I can't fault the lads for effort, commitment, desire and togetherness. We needed to put all of those things into today's game and we did. There could have been more goals at either end but we set out to win and it's a big three points for us."

Peter Ward, caretaker manager of Stockport, was far less impressed though and stated ""If you score three in any game you expect to win it but if you make the mistakes we're making we're never going to win any games," a phrase uttered by Tilson after Lincoln's 4-3 home defeat to Hereford two weeks ago.

Ward was hoping to get the job full time, but his chances have taken a massive hit thanks to successive defeats to both Lincoln and Hereford in the last seven days, the current bottom two.

"There is a lot of things gone wrong a lot of individual errors today and certain people haven't done their jobs properly. Today they didn't even have to work hard for their goals, there's long balls and a lack of communication and they're getting in and scoring four goals."

Stockport don't play on Tuesday evening, but they will go into the relegation zone if Lincoln win at Cheltenham and Hereford winning at home to Morecambe would see the Hatters go bottom.
