Tilson wants Imps to make it six, seven, eight, etc

Steve Tilson has urged his squad to keep up the recent winning run that has seen City move well away from the drop zone and effectively secure Football League status, however, fans attention is now switching towards a run at the Playoffs.

Fifteen games ago the Imps were bottom of the table and one of the heavy favourites for the Playoffs, however, wins against Stockport, Cheltenham, Port Vale, Bradford and Hereford has not only given City breathing space over the bottom two with games in hand, but has now allowed City to be in the unusual situation of being closer to the Playoffs than that relegation zone.

City lay eight points behind seventh placed Gillingham with three games in hand. On the flip side, the Imps are now nine points above 23rd placed Burton Albion and all of a sudden this season has taken a massive turn, going from a season of survival to a season for mediocrity and potentially chasing the Playoffs.

Tilson is now wanting to push on and get more wins. "We've got on a good run at the right time of the season. I have just said to the lads winning becomes a habit as much as losing does," Tilson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "Now we have got to keep that habit going and not to settle for second best. We are on a good run but we have got to keep it moving forward. When you get a run going people start believing in themselves and believing in each other. Six weeks ago we might have lost but we have worked ever so hard and got bodies in the way and ran 30 yards to track runners."

Lincoln's fifth win in a row came against Hereford United, it was the sixth time in a year and three days we have faced the Bulls, the third time the Imps have come out on top in that time. It also secured City's first double of the season

"I think in the first half we dominated and really could have been out of sight. We knew it was going to be tough in the second half but we defended well as a team, we had that togetherness and got bodies in the way and I thought we thoroughly deserved the win," Tilson continued. "We worked as a team, everyone played their part and it was a fantastic win for us. We've gone on a good run at a very good time in the season and we have to keep moving forward."

City will aim for a sixth win in a row on Tuesday, but it couldn't come against more difficult opponents. City haven't beaten Shrewsbury at Sincil Bank since March 2005 and the Imps haven't even scored past the Shrews since February 2008.
