Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth is confident of getting a result against City and is looking to continue an unbeaten home record since he took over. Holdsworth was amongst the favourites for the Lincoln job back in October, but has now made the step up from non-league to manage the Shots.
Holdsworth being Aldershot Town's seventh permanent manager since their reformation in 1992 and has taken over a struggling side. The club made the Playoffs quite comfortably last season but became one of the few sides in history not to score a goal in any of their Playoff matches. This season has been far more of a struggle for the Shots and they are well on course for finishing outside of the top ten for only the third time in their history (the other seasons being 2005/6 and 2008/9).
The Shots face an improving Imps side who are coming into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Morecambe, and despite a promising start under Holdsworth, Aldershot haven't won any of their last four games. ”Lincoln are turning their games into wins which is a big plus factor for them and they’re on a great run of form, but it is an opportunity for us to rise to the occasion and build on part of the performance from Saturday – the way we finished the game, we need to start that way,” Holdsworth told Shots Premium on the Aldershot official website.
Their last three matches have ended in draws, all three against sides in poor form, including Saturday's 0-0 draw with Macclesfield. Holdsworth has already bought in several new players to the club, including former Lincoln United player Alex Rodman, but Holdsworth isn't ruling out making wholesale changes.
”I’m trying to give everybody a chance to show me what they can do – the challenge is there for them and I’m looking at the picture for now, for the next game, the game after that and the next two-and a-half months and ultimately it's who is going to be with us starting next season as well."
