Imps legend could be crowned best in League Two

Lincoln City legend Gareth Ainsworth could be crowned League Two's Player of the Year on Sunday. The winger currently plays for Wycombe and despite being nearly 40, he is amongst one of the best entertainers in the division and has a good chance of winning the award.

Ainsworth played for City between 1995 and 1997, comfortably winning Player of the Year on both occasions before leaving for Port Vale. Spells at Wimbledon and Cardiff followed before he rejected the chance to rejoin the Imps on loan in the 2002/3 season, instead heading to Walsall. He spent a long spell at QPR before moving to Wycombe in the summer.

Despite knocking on 40, Ainsworth has been one of the highlights of the division and is in the final three for the League Two Player of the Year award, with only Fondreham's Adam Le Fondre and Bury's Ryan Lowe in his way.

Ainsworth will find out if he has won the award in a ceremony in London on Sunday evening.
