Crawley make it 20 undefeated on march to League Two

Only a pedantic mathematician would deny that Crawley are now a Football League side. The Sussex side made it an impressive 20 games unbeaten to move 12 points clear at the top, four games in hand over their nearest rivals and a goal different miles above everyone else. Meanwhile, Barnet took another step to replacing them in the Blue Square.

20 matches unbeaten, goal difference of +48, clear by 12 points and the only team to beat them this calendar year is Manchester United, just what can you say about them? Yet another win on Tuesday night, this time at Eastbourne, means that only York City from outside of the Playoff places overtake them, although finishing in the Playoffs would be a massive disappointment for a team who, in their current form, would finish the season with a monsterous 113 points, smashing the current record.

Luton are still valiantly chasing them and could realistically be Luton's last remaining true challengers for the title given that they have played less games than Crawley, but still languish fourteen points behind Steve Evans' men, that despite winning 1-0 at Rushden on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, where the race to come into League Two seems settled, it's still far from a clear picture at both ends of League Two. On Tuesday night Stevenage were the big winners, jumping up to fifth place, leapfrogging four teams after they won 2-0 at Burton, a team who just can't pull away from the drop zone, despite their numerous games in hand. That failure to capitalise on extra games leaves Stockport and Barnet in with a chance, although the latter wasted the opportunity to draw level on points with Burton after losing at Aldershot. City dropped with 17th after Macclesfield's win at Morecambe.

With Burton's consistent failure to win their games and their games in hand running out, those who thought they'd easily survive because of their numerous games in hand are starting to look a bit concerned for them.  With Burton having a LOT of difficult fixtures coming up, the big game could easily be their home game against Barnet on April 2nd. They also face Northampton, Morecambe, Cheltenham, Bradford and Aldershot, all bottom half teams. Failure to pick up a decent points return could easily see them slip into the bottom two.

Finally, two of the teams hoping to avoid a quick return to League Two both travelled away from home on Tuesday but neither could record a win. Notts County lost at Brighton and Dagenham conceded an injury time equaliser against Leyton Orient.
