Imps lose out as Carson returns to Sunderland

Lincoln City's preparations for the remainder of the season took a blow when it was announced Sunderland have recalled Trevor Carson three weeks before the end of his three month loan spell. The Imps are now left without a goalkeeper ahead of Friday's game with Rotherham.

Carson has been recalled to Sunderland because of injuries to Craig Gordon and back up goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. After sixteen appearances at Sincil Bank, Carson kept the Imps in a lot of matches, that despite conceding five in the first half against Shrewsbury.

This leaves City with no goalkeeper for the game at Rotherham on Friday night as Joe Anyon is on a loan at Morecambe that doesn't include a recall clause, so expect a loan signing in the next few days.

We would like to thank Trevor for his efforts over the last two months.
