Lincoln loanee Tom Kilbey will be released by Portsmouth at the end of the season. Kilbey joined the Imps on loan last week and has now been told that his future is away from Fratton Park.

Kilbey made his debut in the 6-0 defeat to Rotherham on Friday night but impressed in Tuesday night's defeat at Port Vale. His early performances hint at a good future and it is now believed that if his loan spell goes well, he will be offered a contract by the Imps now that Steve Cotterill confirmed he will not be getting one at Portsmouth

"I have spoken to Tom to say there isn't going to be an extension to his contract here, so he has needed to go out and start playing," Cotterill told the press. "We had to weigh up how many times Tom is going to get out on the pitch between now and the end of the season when he can go and play 90 minutes if selected at Lincoln. I can keep him here and be really selfish, but what is the difference between having six subs or seven subs? Tom is not going to stay here. Hopefully he can carve out a living for himself in the game somewhere because he is a real nice lad. I really like him."
