Imps will miss out on local derby if relegation occurs

If Lincoln City do end up getting relegated to the Blue Square Premier division then they will be denied a potential local derby. Conference North side Eastwood Town are in the Playoff chase but have been told that their ground is not up to standard and that they will not be allowed to compete in the Playoffs.

Nottinghamshire based Eastwood are currently in the Playoffs in the Blue Square North having been on a fantastic run, that despite battling relegation early on. They were hoping for an unexpected stab at the Playoffs but those hopes have now been truly dashed as they were told that they will not be allowed to compete in the end of season lottery, and they today lost their appeal.

A statement appeared on the Eastwood website reading "After a two hour hearing with the Football Association, and genuinely believing that Eastwood Town had the significant stronger case both morally and legally, it was decided by the Football Association to dismiss the appeal."

It is unknown how the Playoffs will be worked if Eastwood do finish in one of the four Playoff places.

If the Imps do go down though we won't be short on local games with Grimsby, Mansfield, Rushden, Kettering, Tamworth and York all within 90 minutes drive, with Alfreton, Boston and Nuneaton challenging for promotion from the Conference North.
