Swindon down, Bury up and Conference Playoff games decided

Lincoln City will play Swindon Town next season if we survive the relegation battle, and we now know which four teams will compete in the Blue Square Premier Playoffs. However, City are now casting an eye to the Blue Square North and South situations just incase we do end up going down.

LEAGUE ONE

Swindon were relegated almost four years to the day since they were promoted from League Two. They had made the Playoff Final in League One last season before losing out to Millwall, then selling their two main strikers, Charlie Austin and Billy Paynter. This season has been a considerable struggle and they have become the first side to be relegated to League Two, sitting on 38 points with just six to play for and they are seven from safety.

Plymouth continue to fight for another day after a surprise 1-0 win against MK Dons, and with a game in hand they have a good chance of surviving, sitting just three points form safety. It is effectively three from four to join Swindon in League Two as Bristol Rovers, Dagenham and Walsall all sit within three points of Plymouth. Realistically everyone else is safe.

LEAGUE TWO

Chesterfield and Bury met on Monday afternoon in a game where Chesterfield would win the title if they won and Bury would get promoted if they won, whilst also giving themselves a good chance of the title. It was Bury who were smiling by the end as a 3-2 win confirmed their promotion after joining in 2002, they were the second longest serving team, behind only Lincoln and Macclesfield.

Only Wycombe or Shrewsbury have realistic hopes of joining them automatically. Wycombe are guaranteed a consolation prize of the Playoffs, whereas Shrewsbury would need results to go against them to not be involved. Accrington, Stevenage and Gillingham complete the top 7 with only Torquay realistically challenging. Rotherham and Port Vale both have slim chances of the Playoffs.

Southend, Oxford, Crewe and Aldershot are the only teams 100% guaranteed to be in League Two next season, although everyone down to Burton in 19th should be safe. Hereford, Lincoln and Northampton will still be nervous about Barnet's form. Stockport may not be relegated yet, but they would need to win both of their remaining games and see a goal swing of 35 goals over Northampton.

BLUE SQUARE PREMIER

Crawley have been promoted for several weeks and we now know the four teams that will compete in the Playoffs. Although there's still one game left to play, points and goal differences mean that the semi-finals have already been decided. AFC Wimbledon will face Fleetwood, first leg at the latter and Luton will play Wrexham, with the first leg again at the latter.

Everyone else down to and including 17th placed Cambridge is guaranteed to be in the Blue Square Premier next season. The final day on Saturday will see five teams compete to avoid the two relegation places. Altrincham and Tamworth currently occupy the places, although Barrow, Forest Green and Southport can join Eastbourne and Histon in the second tier of non-league next season.

BLUE SQUARE NORTH/SOUTH

If the Imps go down then Braintree and Alfreton after they won the respective divisions.

Due to Eastwood not being allowed to compete in the Blue Square North Playoffs, it makes the Playoffs a little awkward. As with the Blue Square Premier, the four Playoff teams are now confirmed, although there's no confirmation of who will play who so far. Telford and Boston will definitely be at home in the second legs of their semi finals and will face either Nuneaton or Guiseley, it all depends on last day results.

In the Blue Square South Farnborough and Ebbsfleet have their place in the Playoffs already, with Farnborough guaranteed to be at home in the second leg. The final two places will be competed for between four teams. Woking and Chelmsford could still end up at home in the second leg as both can still finish above Ebbsfleet, however, both can also finish outside of the top five altogether. Welling and Dover are just outside of the Playoffs but both would need to win and hope that Woking and Chelmsford lose. If they do make the Playoffs, both are guaranteed to be away in the second leg.
