Aldershot, Grimsby and Scunthorpe fans in the home end

Lincoln City's home stands will be housing Aldershot, Grimsby and Scunthorpe fans are it emerged that the discount for home fans would not be extended to the away end. Groups of Grimsby and Scunthorpe fans were planning on sitting in the away end, hoping to see the Imps relegated.

With the prices discounted to £7 and £3 for Lincoln City fans ahead of the do-or-die game against Aldershot at the weekend not being extended to the away end, several Aldershot fans on ShotsWeb have stated that they plan on coming into the home end to take advantage of the £11 discount. The Aldershot fans are understandably upset about the offer not extending to away fans and the club released a statement on their website this morning.

"It has come to our attention that Lincoln City intend to run what the Football League refer to as a "Local Promotion" which has reduced the price for Home supporters for this Saturday's game at Sincil Bank. After becoming aware of the situation we contacted Lincoln City immediately to enquire if this is to be extended to away supporters too. However the answer at the time of this statement is unfortunately not.

League regulations do allow for clubs to run up to four "Local Promotions" during a season which can include reduced pricing for home supporters without the need to pass this discount on to visiting supporters.

It is apparent that discounted prices could have encouraged additional Shots supporters to travel to Lincoln for what offers to be a thrilling end of season game especially with Lincoln having everything to play for. However we hope that all those supporters who intended to travel on Saturday will still do so. Please remember this is a discount for home fans NOT an increase for away fans.

We confirm that Aldershot Town Football Club has done everything possible to look after the interests of our supporters in this matter.

We are extremely disappointed that the offer is not collective for all supporters at Sincil Bank on Saturday. We are sure that Aldershot Town fans will attend the final match of the season in their traditional way with the usual passion and belief to show their appreciation to Dean, Matt and the lads with an excellent turnout and a sea of Red and Blue to end the season on a positive note.

Your tremendous backing throughout the season has been greatly appreciated."

As well as Aldershot fans, groups of Grimsby and Scunthorpe fans are expected to come into the home ends after initially planning to join their Hampshire counterparts in cheer their side onto victory.

Some members of "The Fishy" forum have said they are unhappy in the way that Lincoln revelled in Grimsby's relegation at this time last year, ironically being relegated in a battle with Barnet. Grimsby had gone into the final day needing a win over Burton and hoping that Barnet would lose at home to Rochdale. Grimsby lost 3-0 at Burton to confirm their relegation, although they would have been relegated even if they had won after Barnet's victory over Rochdale.

A larger than normal crowd is expected on Saturday, although by the sounds of it the designated away end will be very sparsely populated.

Not any more - the club are allowing advanced tickets to be sold to 'shots fans at the same rate as us. However, anyone purchasing on the day will have to pay full whack.

Might still see the Cods and Iron coming. Be interesting to see where they chose to sit now.

I certainly wasn't one of those who revelled in Grimsby going down last year - I genuinely felt for them, thought that a club of that size shouldn't really be in that situation, and knew that the lack of a derby would hurt our finances.

Wait, does that mean we will be paying full price on the gate as well?

Aldershot fans get the £7 discounted rate if they buy in advance otherwise they're paying £18 on the door.
