Reaction to Delroy Facey's 2010/11

Delroy Facey turned from a player who most fans didn't want into a player who's impact was never more felt than when he was made captain during the spell when City looked safe and it was Facey's injury towards the end of the season which saw City's form go seriously downhill.

Last year Facey had an unimpressive loan spell. Other than scoring one goal, he did precisely nothing in his loan spell. He later played against the Imps whilst at Notts County and he was immensely popular there, something which few could figure out as to why, although he did score that night.

I was quite disappointed when he joined permanently, especially as we had already signed Broughton, however, if one player surprised me during the season then it was Delroy. Although he was distinctively average in his first few months, it was around November time that he suddenly turned into a player that the crowd loved, and you began to understand why Notts fans liked him.

He was made captain after Scott Kerr left and Facey was all of a sudden one of our best players. His influence was excellent and whilst he wasn't scoring goals galour, he was bringing out the best in players such as Grimes and I find it no surprise that Grimes stopped scoring as soon as Delroy got injured towards the end of the season.

I was disappointed to see that he wasn't offered a new contract, I think he could have done an excellent job in the non-League.
