Lincoln City's odds have winning the Blue Square Premier next season have been given by two bookmakers at 9/1, fifth favourites with both bookies. Despite only having six contracted players for next season, none of whom are wanted, the bookmakers are seemingly confident City can challenge for a place back in the League next year.
The Imps only have six players for next season, although all six have been told that they are available for transfer and are clearly not in the manager's plans. Three of the numerous out of the contract players have been offered new deals but none have accepted as of yet, and everyone else was released.
City haven't confirmed a single signing in the two weeks since the season ended, although many believe that Douglas Lindburg, a trialist goalkeeper towards the end of the season, has been offered a contract.
Despite the lack of players for next season and Steve Tilson's lack of experience at this level, Blue Square Bet and 888Sport have both put Lincoln at 9/1 to win the Blue Square Premier next season. If the bookies are right then the Imps would make the Playoffs.
Luton are favourites to win, they are 3/1 favourites with Blue Square and 888Sport, and 7/2 with SkyBet. Wrexham, Darlington and Mansfield are also heavily fancied to challenge.
Elsewhere, Playoff Semi-Finalists Fleetwood are a tempting 11/1, if they do go up it would be a third promotion in five seasons. York, like Lincoln, are also at 9/1. Relegated Stockport are a best priced 14/1, as are Grimsby. Promoted teams Alfreton and Braintree are at 50/1 and 200/1 respectively, however, the brave one's amongst you will be looking at Hayes and Yeading United at 250/1 to win the division.
