Former Imp & England man to bring his Nottingham Forest side

Former Lincoln City man Steve McLaren will bring his Nottingham Forest side to Sincil Bank for a friendly at the end of July. McLaren's reputation of a good coach were in tatters after an unsuccessful spell as England manager, that before strangely putting on a dutch accent in an interview.

Steve McLaren was at Lincoln in the ill-fated 1986/7 season, leaving just weeks before the Imps became the first side to be automatically relegated from the Football League. It is with an almost ironic twist of fate that he is the first manager to confirm a friendly at Sincil Bank since the Imps got relegated.

He will bring his new Nottingham Forest side to Sincil Bank on July 30th. City have twice faced the men from the City Ground in friendlies in recent years, drawing 0-0 and winning 1-0, before the clubs met in the 2007/8 FA Cup First Round. An own goal gave City a draw at Sincil Bank before a brilliant first half performance from Forest saw them eventually win 3-1 in the replay.

So far City's pre-season is as follows;

July 16th - Ilkeston Town (away)

July 19th - Barton Old Boys (away) and Lincoln United (away)

July 20th - Brigg Town (away)

July 24th - Scunthorpe United (home - Lincolnshire Senior Cup)

July 26th - Gainsborough Trinity (away) and Sleaford Town (away)

July 30th - Nottingham Forest (home)

August 6th - Boston United (away)

Although the Lincoln United and Sleaford Town friendlies have yet to be confirmed on the Lincoln City website, the websites of those respective clubs have confirmed on their websites.
