Jamie Taylor delighted to join "big club" Lincoln

Jamie Taylor couldn't hide his delight after joining Lincoln City on Friday. In an interview for local television, he revealed it was an easy decision to join what he considers to be one of the biggest clubs in non league football.

Taylor became Steve Tilson's first signing of the summer on Friday afternoon, giving Lincoln fans a bit of relief after very little news coming from the club during the season. With at least ten more signings needed for the club to realistically have a reasonably sized squad, Tilson has his work cut out to fill the squad before pre-season training starts again on Wednesday.

"He (Taylor) was at Eastbourne last year and scored 19 in all competitions," Tilson told Look North. Tilson has certainly done his research ahead of the club's first spell in the non-league since the 1980s. "After speaking with managers in the Conference it’s important to have played who’ve been in and around the division."

Taylor himself was delighted to join the Imps. “As soon as Lincoln come in for you, you are at a team who are going to be one of the two or three biggest teams in the Conference, so to come from a small club like Eastbourne, it’s a massive move for me,” he told Look North

The Imps have been linked to several non-league players in recent days, including the well travelled Jon Challinor and Rushden striker Sam Smith.

It’s set to be a busy few days at Lincoln. The fixtures are released on Tuesday, pre-season training begins on Wednesday and the first friendly is at Ilkeston on the 16th.
