City given mixed start to non-league life

Lincoln City will face two promoted sides in the first three weeks of the season, but will also face one of last season's Playoff teams and the winners of the FA Trophy in the opening few weeks of the season.

Lincoln will be away from home on the opening day for the third time in four seasons as we make the trip to AGM Cup winners Southport. The first home game comes three days later as Kidderminster make their first journey to Sincil Bank since September 2004.

Although we can't publish a full list, the Imps have derbies against Alfreton and Mansfield on successive Tuesday nights and a festive double header against Grimsby.

The season is rounded off with a trip to Ebbsfleet.

Would expect a healthy figure to see us at Southport. Say 400? Maybe more.

But if by Tuesday Feb 14th, we are stuck in mid-table, it could be our lowest gate for a league match when we host Braintree !

Somehow I doubt, the "Sorry luv, we can't go for that romantic Valentine's meal tonight. City are at home to Braintree" will prove a sufficient excuse !
