Blue Square Premier rivals set to avoid being chucked out

Wrexham look likely to avoid being chucked out of the Blue Square Premier after fresh concerns of their financial situation were raised. The clubs are due to meet just six days after the season begins and the game is scheduled to be televised on the rather unpopular Premier Sports.

On Thursday the Dragons met with the Football Conference to discuss their financial situation, and to determine if they could fulfill their fixtures and meet the demands of their creditors.

By 5pm on Monday Wrexham were told that they must have completed four objectives;

1. Deposit a bond or bank guarantee of £250,000 into the competition's accounts.
2. Proof of payment to all outstanding football creditors, including staff and players wages.
3. Lodge a signed lease, acceptable to the Football Conference, as to where the club intends to play it's home fixtures for the 2011/12 season.
4. Submit a detailed business plan and revised budget for the coming season.

It looked bleak for the Welsh side but on friday afternoon Wrexham FC (2006) Ltd completed the sale of the Racecourse Stadium and Colliers Park to Glyndwr Uiversity.

The Conference have spoken to Wrexham again and they agree that three of the four actions have been met due to the sales, whereas the final one will be signed off by the deadline.

It means that the Imps will almost certainly be playing Wrexham, as planned, on Friday 16th for the televised fixture at Sincil Bank. Wrexham have former Imps Dean Keates and Frank Sinclair in their squad, the latter of which hasn't returned to Sincil Bank since being released at the end of the 2008/9 season.
