Former Imp scores first goal of the season as Blackpool win

Former Lincoln City striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher has entered the record books again by scoring the first competitive goal of the new Football League season. His late goal secured the points for Blackpool as they beat Hull City at the KC Stadium.

Taylor-Fletcher scored the beautiful winning goal at the KC Stadium just ten minutes from time. It was the second season in a row that he has scored on the opening day of the season for Blackpool, following on from his opening goal in the Tangerines' 4-0 win at Wigan on the opening day of last season. It also gives him the distinction of scoring the first goal of the Football League season.

It's yet another feather in the cap of Taylor-Fletcher, who Keith Alexander rescued from the reserves at Leyton Orient. The Londoners had signed him from Northwich but a certain Paul Brush, who was in charge at Brisbane Road at the time, left him to rot in their reserves after poor form for the first team. Several years later and Taylor-Fletcher has entered the history books on many occasions.

His achievements range from scoring in Playoff Finals to being the only man to have ever scored in all of the top six levels of the English game.
