Players get into arguments with fans

Lincoln City's defeat at Braintree was the setting for several arguments between players and unhappy fans. Gavin McCallum, Adam Watts and Jean-Francois Christophe both all into verbal confrontations with fans during and after the games, with the latter having to be dragged away by other players.

With pressure mounting at Lincoln, the fans started voicing their anger during the 1-0 defeat at Braintree, with a section calling for Steve Tilson's head after a run of just 1 win in 18 games that stretches back into last season. City are in danger of a second straight relegation and on pitch arguing was common amongst the players in the defeat at Braintree, and that started off the interactions between McCallum and the fans.

McCallum has failed to replicate his pre-season form and after heavily criticising one of his team-mates early on in the second half, a fan shouted from the stands that he should concentrate more on "pulling his finger out" and then start complaining about other's performances. This lead to a heated discussion between the two that lasted whenever McCallum was nearby before being substituted.

The match finished and whilst most of the players went straight into the changing rooms, a select few stayed out to warm down....including some substitutes who didn't even play. One of those was Jean Francois-Christophe and he walked straight over to a group of fans near the game and got into another heated debate, one that eventually saw some of his team-mates have to drag him away. During all this Adam Watts also spoke to the fans and defended his team-mates and said that they understand why the fans are frustrated.

Josh Gowling ended all the arguments by having a non-heated discussion with the fans.

The fans should have invaded the pitch, approached Tilson and forcefully taken him out of the ground and put him on a taxi back to his former Essex home, the useless piece of shite. And told him never come North again.

At the same time, the fans should have given Watts a few slaps so it makes it clear to the players that we care about this club and we are not standing for@#$%&anymore.

How dare the players voice their anger at the fans.

I've been one of Adam Watts' biggest critics on these boards, but I think he deserves some credit for facing up these fans and certainly does not deserve "a few slaps so it makes it clear to the players that we care about this club and we are not standing for@#$%&anymore." Surely walking away and saying nothing would show that he, or others, didn't care!

I'm not generally one for defending footballers, but at the end of the day they are human beings and I know that if I was being barracked and presumably quite seriously insulted, there is no way that I'd just accept it. Judging by the tone of your comments F1imp, I don't think you would either.

79imp your unbelievable. You've just spent time analysing my post (a fellow fan) on an internet forum and putting a negative analysis on it. Then you go and defend Watts saying he deserves credit.

You've made me throw up on my laptop and your the prime example of a fan that lacks ambition/pride/common sense.

Yes....I definitely give credit to Adam Watts for attempting to diffuse and/or respond to what must have been a difficult situation, i.e. fans voicing their frustrations (rightly and understandably I might add in the wake of that non-performance).

I was not at the game so I can only go on Nathan's article, which states that he defended his team-mates and understood the fans' frustration. The easy thing to do would have been to walk away, or even worse, give back some of the language I'm sure he had to encounter.

If you seriously think that hitting players who did what Adam Watts did last night displays any sort of pride, ambition or common sense, then you are frankly the sort of fan Lincoln City could do without. Getting to that level of 'support' is hardly going to give us a good reputation in the game or attract decent players to the club in future is it?

F1 imp

It's you that needs to growup instead of making childish remarks about manhandling the manager and slapping players.
We do have ambition and passion but we show it in a grownup way
I also think Watts is a poor player along with Fuseini and have said so on these forums

79 imp was right he deserves credit for coming over and facing the fans that are being critical of the team, but as last seasons some just head straight for the dressing rooms hoping the fans will forget so credit to the players that faced up to the fans as it showed how much they cared

So don't be so childish and try and make some growwnup comments and have a bit more respect for other people and don't slag them off just because they don't agree with your comments
In the end we all want City to progress but at the moment it's not happening I've suffered seasons like this before and have supported the Imps since 1946 65 yrs
I'm sorry I had to say the above but that's how you made me feel

I should stress that Watts never walked over to the fans like Christophe did. Watts was doing his warm down (if you can call it a warm down when he didn't play) and just responded to several comments when he was there.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

Note***** My comments and views should not be taken seriously. Its a @#$%& internet forum.

However, Jal Jal its fairly obvious you would rather discuss me than Lincoln City so I would like to make 2 things clear to you.

First of all, fair enough you've got your opinions but its obvious I have more footballing sense and logic for the modern day football than you will ever have, judging from some of your stupid arguments/views/statements that I read on a weekly basis on here.

Second of all, I cannot be bothered to get into a slagging match so please stop bashing me. Literally, as soon as someone says something negative about Lincoln or its players you berate them. All I want to do is discuss and debate things about Lincoln City. The last thing I want to do is read a post that is about me from some old, miserable yellerbelly.

Lets discuss Lincoln City.

You moan because I criticised you but you were downright rude to 79 imp saying he made you throwup and he lacks ambition pride & common sense but like a spoiled brat when you're criticised you cry & throw your toys out the pram

The trouble with you F1 you know less about the modern game than anyone I've come across on this forum this shows by your stupid remarks about dragging the manager off and slapping players you could put your footballing knowledge on top of a pinhead and there would still be room left
If I berate people who are critical to Lincoln players why do I say Watts & Fuseini want removing, & yes I am passionate & do love the Imps
Obviously I am a yellowbelly and proud of it born and bred in the City centre by your remark it's obvious that your not
City can certainly do without supporters like you if that's your attitude

Yes you are correct I also would sooner discuss the football than discuss you

Jal jal - you need to get that stick from out of your ar$ehole. Its a internet forum, sometimes I say things in a serious manner and sometimes I say things in a joking, non-serious manner. Work it out you old codger.

F1 to save this discussion going on and on I'll take it that you were joking in a non serious manner (Sm1)

I understand Jal Jal and I really don't want to argue with you either. If you or anyone feels like I am being rude to them then I would just like to say I am not saying anything in a vicious manner that is meant to slate you. A lot of it is said in frustration (in particular the slapping Watts comment) to be honest, at what is going on at Lincoln City at the moment.
Yes, of course I was thumbs down

I'm with F1 Imp on this .... its no coincidence that McCallum & Watts were two of the players that were in the squad that took us down last season. Both were put on the transfer list I believe due to excessive wages and for not being good enough. Both remain, neither have produced yet again (bar gavin v Wrexham) and I'd wager that they are both high(est) earners in this years squad yet they have the cheek to answer back to fans?

I agree slapping either is not really the answer (however deserved) although I admit I'd loved to have given Broughton a few shots back in May!

F1, you said send him to his ex home in Essex, I think he actually lives there still.
Further highlights that his heart is not in this job, stay in Essex and do the right thing and admit you are not the right man for the job Tilson.
