Imps beat top of the table Gateshead in a rare match

In a match of rarities, the Imps beat Gateshead at Sincil Bank. It was City's first home win since beating Southend on March 12th and only the second win since that day. It was accompanied by the first clean sheet since March 5th and a first ever goal for Ali Fuseini.
City started the game and almost took the lead within seconds as Nutter volleyed a Power effort into the net. It turned out to be the only highlight early on as a slow half ensued. Anyon bravely gathered the ball at the feet of Odubade. City forced several corners but none came to anything.
Carruthers was booked in the 31st minute before Turnball joined him three minutes later, yes, the game really was that slow. Gowling had a downward header go wide before the the referee blew for a half with talking points few and far between.
Cummins headed a corner against the post to start the second half before he then had a shot well saved by Anyon. The Imps were having plenty of possession but weren’t really doing anything with it with crosses into the box going beyond Perry, who putting it nicely was less than mobile during the entire night before he was placed in the 67th minute by Sam Smith.
Russell hit a shot straight at Farman before Anyon continued to rebuild his reputation amongst Imps fans as he made two brilliant saves within a minute. The first was a header across goal following a corner and the second was when Gillies found himself one on one.
The game seemed destined for a draw but out of nowhere City found themselves in the lead as Nutter played the ball into the box and Ali Fuseini rose to head in his first goal for the Imps since joining in January.
Shaw fired over from the edge of the box but neither side could force the second goal of the game and City found themselves with three points for just the second time in twenty-one games.

Lucky enough to have seen 8:0 vs. Northampton & 9:0 vs. Bournmouth under Murph.
This team should put another to the sword in such a manner this season.

Going even further back to the Div Two days, I remember being at the Bank when we beat a star-studded Fulham (Johnny Haines, Jimmy Hill, Tony Macedo etc) 6-1.

If only we'd beaten Malcolm MacDonald's Fulham to get promotion to Division 2.
Mind you, then we wouldn't have got to meet Forsest Green for the first time.
I was sat in the front row of the South Park stand with my dad, and can still remember so much about the game, the atmosphere was fantastic !
Also the 1-0 win over Scunny in March 1972 when Alan Gilliver powered in that header to win a top of the table clash in front of over 18,000 ?
