Imps make it four points in a week

Lincoln drew 1-1 with Forest Green to make it four points in a week for the Imps. The game started with a really bizarre incident as the referee asked Sinclair to leave the field of play and refused to let him back on, despite the ball being down the other end of the pitch and Forest Green scored from the position he would normally be covering whilst he was gone. Danny Hone did equalise in the second half.

Forest Green kicked off the game with intent and won a corner after 30 seconds. It was cleared by Fuseini before Tony Sinclair was told to leave the pitch by the referee, the referee refused to let Sinclair back on the pitch and in his absence a cross was played into the box with Curtis McDonald headed in at the position where Sinclair would normally have been.

McCallum hit a shot straight at Bittner before then hitting an overhead kick wide of the target. Bittner saved a Christophe header before Perry shot over from 25 yards. Fuseini headed over the bar from a Russell cross before Power was lucky to stay on the pitch as he was only booked for a double footed challenge.

Forbes hit a shot over for the visitors and McDonald was booked for a tug of Power’s shirt. McCallum hit a tame shot straight at Bittner to end the half.

City were enjoying plenty of the ball but doing precisely sod all with it, only creating a few half chances here and there, whereas Forest Green showing very little attacking intent. Power shot wide before Turk replaced Bangura for the visitors.

It was a slow start to the half but City won a free kick just before the hour mark, Nutter played it in and Danny Hone headed in an exceedingly rare goal to draw City level. Griffin replaced Forbes for the visitors.

Perry headed wide from a Russell cross before a rare Forest Green attack saw Klukowski fire wide. Smith replaced Perry for City.

Hone headed a Nutter corner wide and it wasn’t long before Joe Anyon won yet more plaudits as Norwood found himself one-on-one with the City goalkeeper. Anyon stood and saved Norwood’s poor effort . O’Keefe replaced Christophe for City and head almost gave City the lead within seconds as he headed a Russell cross goalwards, only for Bittner to tip over to deny O’Keefe re-establishing himself as the player who has scored the most goals for the club out of those here (Hone had equalled him on four with his goal).

That would be the final goalscoring opportunity of the game.
