Imps are true to form in York defeat

Lincoln City's inability to win two games in a row continued on Tuesday night as York beat the Imps 2-0. It's now ten months since the Imps won back-to-back games and despite having plenty of possession around the York box, City never really looked like getting back into the game.

City got off to a good start when Conal Platt shot over from 10 yards after Sheridan and Perry linked up. The net was bulging two minutes later but it was City’s goal that had been breached as Danny Pilkington’s shot from 20 yards took a deflection and looped over Farman and into the net.

Ingham caught a Sheridan cross under pressure from Perry. Several York corners failed to yield any chances. Former York man Simon Russell tried his luck from distance before Sheridan, Platt and Power all had quick fire efforts go just wide of the post.

Sheridan was booked for a foul on Kerr following on from Perry having a shot saved before Power again had a shot go wide. Hinds was booked at the end of the first half, a first half where City had created more chances but hadn’t managed a decent effort on target.

Perry was replaced by Medley early on in the second half before Chambers hit a shot wide for the hosts. Power was booked for a double-footed challenge on Pilkington that could have easily been a red card.

Blair picked up a loose ball in the 56th minute and he played in McLaughlin, he hit the ball first time and it went around Farman and into the net. Russell was replaced by Laurent just after the hour mark.

Ashikodi replaced Pilkington for the hosts just seconds before Medley fired wide for City. Tyrone Thompson was booked for a foul on Blair in a second half that fizzled out to leave City on the end of yet another away defeat.

I think the game was reminiscent of the Tilson era. I dont think a lot has changed.

I think we've changed in the way that we created chances. Had we played a striker that could score goals then we should have gotten at least one.

Perry hasn't scored since August and Medley hasn't looked like scoring in any of the games we've played.

I think we're much better at home now but away games are the downfall.

I still think we'll survive quite comfortably but still only finish 16th/17th.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky
